Deadline: 18-Oct-22
The National Education Research Agency (NRO) is excited to announce the Comenius program Teaching Fellows to implement an educational innovation within a subject or course.
Education improvement should directly benefit students in Dutch higher education.
Thematic Areas
The Comenius program gives an impulse to educational innovation and improvement in higher education. Small-scale, one-year projects can be financed with the Comenius Teaching Fellow grants.
- Proposals can be submitted within four themes:
- More accessible higher education: Students from diverse backgrounds enter higher education with varying degrees of success. They can have different support needs and encounter different obstacles. An important question is therefore how different student groups can be better helped to find their way to and through higher education successfully.
- Well-being in higher education: Various studies have shown that the mental vitality of students has been under pressure for some time, in which loneliness and pressure to perform in particular are indicated as important causes. Before the COVID19 pandemic, there were already concerns about the mental health of the students, but the corona crisis seems to be magnified the situation.
- Working on the challenges of the future: There are several global problems, such as the climate crisis and the gap between rich and poor, for which solutions are often looked at with hope to young people. The United Nations has these challenges summarized in seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both colleges and universities set themselves the goal of preparing students well for participating in a changing society and the labor market to make a positive contribution to these challenges of the future.
- Free theme – Sustainable for the future: Free theme across the entire spectrum of the Strategic Agenda for Higher Education and Research Sustainable for the future. Projects within this theme are in line with the topics and ambitions mentioned in the Strategic Agenda.

- A budget of 50,000 euros is available for each project. The amount requested cannot be higher than 50,000 euros and not lower than 45,000 euros.
