Applications are now open for the Ahimsa Fellowship, India’s first fellowship of its kind which gives direction to your dedication and compassion for animals.
The curriculum of this programme has been curated with inputs from leading experts in the field of animal protection and the social sector.
The Ahimsa Fellowship programme aims at creating a network of effective animal protection leaders adept at working closely with state governments and district administrations to enforce animal protection laws in India.
There is an urgent need of trained professionals who can capably assist the Government in fulfilling its statutory duties through systemic apparatuses like State Animal Welfare Boards, Societies For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Infirmaries, Slaughterhouse Monitoring Committees, Animal Birth Control Monitoring Committees etc.
Ahimsa Fellows will be intensively trained to understand in-depth the existing legal and policy regime. They will also be encouraged and supported to take up advocacy efforts that complement their skill set and interests across the broad field of Animal Protection.
Benefits
- For the first 2 months out of the 9 months, fellows will be credited a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month. Post that, they will receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month.
- The stipend amount is meant to cover cost of executing assignments. Travel and accommodation for the residential contact classes will be covered by Team Ahimsa Fellowship and is NOT to be borne by the candidate. Any rare out of pocket expenses not included in the stipend are reimbursed on a case-by-case basis.

- For the duration of the Fellowship, a monthly stipend will be offered to each Fellows. The stipend is provided to cover cost of living expenses while Fellows undertake and complete the execution of projects and milestones.
- At the end of the fellowship, fellows may be recommended in animal welfare organizations across India.
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduation degree in any discipline
- Good communication skills (English and a Second Local Language)
- Dedication to the cause of animal welfare/rights
- Persistence, lateral & innovative thinking
- Between 22 and 35 years old
- Be available to commit to the entire 9 Month duration of the program
