Deadline: 13-Feb-22
The Humanity in Action is seeking applications for the Copenhagen Fellowship 2022.
The Copenhagen Fellowship centers around a pivotal example of civil society acting in defense of human rights: the flight and rescue of Danish Jews during World War II.
In 2022 – for the third year in a row – the Fellowship explores the special theme: Unity of the Realm and Human Rights. Copenhagen Fellows will dig into Denmark’s displacement of its own colonial history; its complicated historical control over Greenland and the Faroe Islands; and geopolitical interests – such as the US’, Russia’s and China’s – in the Arctic and its consequences for the people of the North Atlantic.
The 2022 Copenhagen Fellowship consists of three parts:
- The International Opening Program | June 6 – 8, 2022 (virtual) They will join the entire international 2022 Human in Action cohort of est. 125 Fellows to discuss online community building, relevant human rights issues and courses for civil engagement (expect full day or evening program).
- The National Fellowship | June 10 – 30, 2022 (in-person in Copenhagen) Est. 25 Fellows from a range of different countries will discuss issues relating to Unity of the Realm and Human Rights (expect full program day and evening).
- The International Action Project Lab Series | September – May (virtual) Once a month, all est. 125 international Fellows will come together again virtually in these online sessions designed to help Fellows implement their Action Projects, to continue collaborative learning, and to keep in touch with the community (these meetings, except the first on September 11, will not exceed 2 hours).
What else are they looking for?
- People they accept to their Fellowships are reflective and self-reflective, critical and self-critical. They demonstrate openness, humility, and a readiness to challenge their own preconceptions.
- Successful candidates are willing to engage in difficult yet constructive and meaningful dialogue. They appreciate the complex interweaving of many identities and perspectives.
- Future Fellows need to be comfortable with feeling uncomfortable and allow space for misunderstanding and mistakes in the process of learning. They acknowledge others’ learning and healing processes.
Eligibility Criteria
- You speak English fluently (all programs are conducted in English)
