Applicants are invited to apply for the Visual Arts Fellowship which is funded by the Copyright Agency and administered by NAVA, and aims to assist exceptional mid-career Australian visual and media arts, craft and design practitioners to undertake a self directed program of professional development.
Two $20,000 fellowships are open to individual mid-career artists and groups. Groups must have a demonstrated history of ongoing collaborative practice between applicants. Funding can be used toward a range of activities such as research, travel, skills development, residencies, mentorships, professional development and training, creation of new work and exhibition/ project costs.
Funding Information
Two fellowships will be awarded $20,000 plus GST (if registered) and can be used toward a range of activities which may include but is not limited to:
- research
- travel
- skills development
- residencies
- mentorships
- professional development and training
- the creation of new work and exhibition/project costs
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be the visual arts, craft and/or design practitioner who is requesting the fellowship
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Applicants must identify as a mid-career artist, defined as having practiced as a professional artist for at least 5-10 years
- Collaborative group applications (groups are at least two people) must be submitted with the details of all group members involved in the project. The grant will be awarded to the applicants nominated on the form
- Late or incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Previous Visual Arts Fellowship recipients are not eligible to apply
- Grants are not retrospective. Funds will only be provided for projects taking place between January to December 2019
- All other considerations being equal, NAVA members will be given priority.
