The Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts invites applications for the VM Salgaocar Fellowship Grants Program 2022.
In their commitment to building a more inclusive and critically engaged society, a key area of their work at Sunaparanta has been to support cultural operators producing scholarly work that stimulates cultures of change.
As they continue to contribute to the cultural ecosystem in Goa, Sunaparanta is offering Fellowship Grants that will recognise excellent and outstanding achievements of those cultural professionals who have been instrumental in bringing forth critical now projects and whose work can contribute to the enrichment of their creative landscape.
Focus Areas
The grant supports a year-long project and welcomes proposals that focus on:
- strengthening capacities to preserve, protect and enhance cultural heritage and local knowledge, resources & skill.
- exploring artistic applications of emerging technologies and ideas related to technology and culture.
- rethinking responses to environmental change, while actively engaging local communities.
Benefits
- Candidates will be selected by a special jury comprising cultural experts.
- Two selected Fellow applicants will be awarded grants of INR 2.5 lakhs each
- The duration of the fellowship will be 12 months.
Outcomes
Each selected fellow will be expected to:
- Complete their research within the one-year grant period.
- Provide a budget with a break-up of how the funds will be utilised and will be required to substantiate all expenses (with receipts etc).
- Submit a copy of their completed final publication at the end of the one-year period.
- Contribute to their pedagogical programme through workshops, discussions, performances, screenings, so as to allow for dissemination and exchange of their ongoing research being produced.
- Publicise research produced during the grant period in newspapers, academic journals, lectures at universities and other educational institutes, all credited to Sunaparanta. Fellows will be guided by a mentor during the grant period.
Eligibility Criteria
- The grants are open to professionals from the following fields: visual artists, theatre practitioners, researchers, art historians, curators, filmmakers, photographers, architects, designers, writers and academicians.
- The proposal needs to be part of an already existing research project. Applicants should clearly indicate what portion of the project will be undertaken as part of the fellowship.
- Applicants must be based in India and be of Indian citizenship.
