Applications open for Civil Society Fund in Malta

Call for Proposals: “Civil Society Innovations for Open Government” Grants

Deadline: 27-Aug-2025

Applications are now open for the Civil Society Fund, which offers financial support to help organisations affiliate with and participate in European and international networks, associations, federations, and training related to EU and international policy and programmes.

The fund aims to help civil society organisations stay updated on EU and international developments, educate their members on related topics, and engage more effectively in decision-making at those levels. It also supports the expansion of international collaboration and networking.

Successful applicants may receive a financial contribution covering up to 80% of eligible costs, with a maximum limit of €6,000 per organisation. Proposals must fall under one of two measures: affiliation with international networks or participation in conferences, meetings, and training abroad related to such affiliations.

Eligible applicants include voluntary and self-governing organisations that are independent from political influence and registered under the Voluntary Organisations Act. Also eligible are social partners and other recognised civil society groups operating in the public interest without industrial or commercial objectives.

Organisations are ineligible if they are bankrupt, undergoing legal proceedings, or convicted of serious professional misconduct. They must also be up to date with tax and social security obligations under Maltese law.
