Deadline: 13-Jan-2026
The Novo Nordisk Foundation is inviting applications for its Postdoc Fellowship to support internationalisation of promising and ambitious young researchers and enable them to do post-doctoral research abroad and facilitating the return to, and integration in, the Danish academic research environment.
The overall goal is to support fundamental research in bioscience and basic biomedicine relevant for understanding the human organism and/or basal mechanisms underlying health and disease.
The research fields include, but are not limited to: molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, modelling of biological systems, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, experimental physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, biology, and biostatistics etc. The research will typically be carried out in animals, cellular or subcellular model systems, or in silico.
The total funding available amounts to DKK 15 million, with each fellowship offering up to DKK 5 million over four years. Funding covers salary for the applicant, operating expenses, equipment, conference participation, travel, publication costs, and relocation support.
The payout for the fourth year is conditional upon the fellow’s return to Denmark. The grant cannot be used for commercial activities, overhead, or double funding of overlapping projects.
The fellowship provides an opportunity for talented postdoctoral researchers to conduct research for at least three years at a university, hospital, or research institution abroad, followed by up to one year at a Danish institution. Eligible applicants must be employed by a Danish research institution for the entire fellowship period, with the start date of the project falling between April 1, 2026, and April 1, 2027.
Applicants should have obtained a PhD degree within five years of the fellowship start date and must have strong ties to the Danish education or research community. They should also have at least one first-author publication and a confirmed collaboration with a principal investigator abroad.
Applications will be evaluated by the Committee on Bioscience and Basic Biomedicine based on scientific quality, originality, impact, approach, collaboration environment, and the applicant’s track record.
Supporting documents include hosting letters from both the Danish and foreign institutions, a CV of the foreign host, and other required declarations. Successful applicants are expected to reintegrate into the Danish scientific community after their stay abroad and continue contributing to the advancement of bioscience and basic biomedicine research.
The deadline for applications is 13 January 2026.
