Call for Proposals in Sudan to support Civil Society Organizations

CFPs: Supporting Civil Society’s role in advancing Human Rights and promoting Non-Discrimination across Georgia

Deadline: 21-Oct-2025

The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has launched a new call for proposals to support local civil society organizations (CSOs) in Sudan, with a focus on advancing women’s participation and leadership in humanitarian crisis planning and response, as well as ensuring the safety, security, and mental health of women and girls in conflict and humanitarian contexts.

This initiative aligns with WPHF’s overarching goal of building peaceful, gender-equal societies. The call prioritizes initiatives that target women and girls facing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, including those marginalized by geography, ethnicity, disability, age, or migratory status. Projects must take place within the specified regions of Sudan: Al Gezirah, Khartoum, North Darfur, River Nile, Sennar, and West Kordofan. Multi-country or out-of-scope projects will not be considered.

Two streams of funding are available. Institutional Funding, ranging from USD 2,500 to USD 30,000, is designed to strengthen the institutional capacity of women’s rights organizations so they can sustain operations and expand their impact. This funding is not intended for programmatic activities but rather for supporting organizational growth and resilience. Programmatic Funding, ranging from USD 30,000 to USD 200,000, will finance initiatives directly aligned with WPHF’s impact areas—enhancing women’s leadership in crisis planning and response or advancing the protection, security, and mental health of women and girls.

Eligible applicants include national, regional, or grassroots women’s rights and feminist organizations, youth-led groups, or women-led CSOs with a proven track record of working with women and girls. Organizations led by women who themselves face intersecting forms of discrimination—such as displaced women, those with disabilities, or ethnic minorities—are strongly encouraged to apply. Women-led organizations must be headed by a woman, while young women-led organizations must be directed by women aged 18–29. Youth-focused groups must demonstrate a core mission of advancing the social, political, and economic participation of young women and men.

Entities such as international NGOs, government institutions, UN agencies, private individuals, businesses, and universities are not eligible for this funding. Selected projects may be implemented until 30 September 2026, offering a critical opportunity for women’s rights groups in Sudan to influence humanitarian action, strengthen protection systems, and build more inclusive and resilient communities.
