Deadline: 01-Dec-2025

The Tree Canada is inviting applications for its Greening Canada’s School Grounds Grant Program to enhance their campuses through tree planting and greening projects.

The program focuses on enhancing the learning experience by improving outcomes in science, math, and language arts, while also promoting health benefits such as improved mental well-being and overall health. Additionally, it aims to strengthen the connection between students and nature, fostering a deeper relationship with the natural environment.

Eligible projects receive up to $10,000 in funding to cover the cost of purchasing and planting trees and shrubs, site preparation, tree maintenance, planting materials, and developing educational materials. The initiative aims to create greener, healthier, and more engaging environments that foster student learning and well-being. By transforming school grounds into vibrant green spaces, the program contributes to improved academic performance and deeper connections with nature among students.

Grant applications are accepted from October to early December the year before project implementation. Applicants are informed by the following March whether their project has received a grant, and most projects are expected to be completed within the same year. Tree Canada supports greening projects wherever learning takes place, including elementary or primary schools, high schools, universities, colleges, and training centers across Canada.

The deadline for applications is 1 December 2025.
