UNW and UNFPA have launched a joint call for proposals to strengthen the work of women human rights defenders in the prevention and response to violence against women and girls and gender-based violence in the context of COVID-19.

This call seeks an organization or a consortium of organizations that can collaborate with UN Women and UNFPA within the Regional Program of the Spotlight Initiative to strengthen the networks of women human rights defenders in the Latin American region in their work for the prevention and care of violence against women and femicides / feminicides in countries of Central America, Mexico, Bolivia and Peru.

All results are expected to focus on the emerging needs of women facing COVID-19 and the new challenges to prevent, address and punish violence against women and girls, as well as the needs of human rights defenders to be able to do its work against the “new normal.

Priority will be given to proposals submitted by consortia or networks of human rights defenders humans with grassroots presence and / or affiliation with organizations on the ground in countries of Central America, Mexico, Bolivia and Peru to have greater diversity and scope in activities proposals and results achieved, and proposals that promote the construction of regional networks and sub-regional or at the local level, the recovery and transfer of historical memory, from successful experiences, learning to enhance the influence and capacities of WHRDs in the region.
