Deadline: 30-Jan-2026

The Embassy of Japan is now accepting applications for the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) for the Japanese Fiscal Year 2026, covering the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The GGP program provides funding support of up to JPY 20,000,000 (approximately WST 353,000) for community-based development initiatives. Applicants proposing projects that may require more than this amount are encouraged to consult with the Embassy.

Eligible applicants include non-government organisations, local public authorities, educational and medical institutions, and other non-profit organisations working on grass-roots development initiatives. Projects must focus on improving quality of life and addressing urgent needs in areas such as basic human needs, social welfare, education and human resource development, environmental protection, disaster relief, and reducing community vulnerability.

Over the years, the GGP program has supported a wide range of initiatives across different sectors. Examples of past projects include the construction and renovation of school buildings, establishment of hospitals and health centres, water supply system development, and the procurement of medical, fire, and emergency services equipment.

Through this funding, the Government of Japan seeks to strengthen partnerships with local communities and institutions, supporting projects that directly benefit people at the grass-roots level while contributing to sustainable development and human security.
