The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program is a U.S. government-funded cultural and academic exchange initiative. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be Egyptian citizens residing in Egypt during application and selection
- Be early-career teachers or individuals training to become teachers
- Or be professionals in relevant academic fields
- Hold a bachelor’s degree
- Have no more than 7 years of teaching experience (calculated from graduation up to August 2026)
English Language Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following minimum scores:
- TOEFL ITP: 550
- TOEFL iBT: 79–80
- IELTS: 6.0 overall
- Duolingo English Test: 105
- Egyptian university English test: minimum 550
Ineligible Applicants
The following individuals cannot apply:
- Employees of the U.S. Department of State
- Local staff of U.S. embassies or missions
- Employees of organizations managing U.S. exchange programs under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
- Fulbright Commission board members and staff and their immediate family members (within restricted periods)
- U.S. citizens
- U.S. green card holders
