Legends of the Land – Tribal Folk Tales Contest (India)

Deadline: 26-November-2025

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to participate in the Tribal Folk Tales Contest.

The contest encourages participants to share inspiring folk tales, legends, or oral stories from tribal communities that reflect their wisdom, courage, and deep connection with nature.

These stories can highlight tribal heroes, traditions, or cultural values that continue to shape India’s heritage. Retell the tales of courage, wisdom, and nature – stories that echo through generations.

Through this contest, participants are invited to explore these timeless tales and present them to a wider audience, helping preserve and promote the invaluable cultural wisdom embedded in tribal narratives.

By sharing them, participants contribute to sustaining cultural memory and acknowledging the deep interdependence between humans and nature that tribal communities embody.

The initiative also serves as a platform to celebrate the creativity of storytellers and honor the enduring spirit of India’s indigenous traditions. The top three winners will be rewarded with Rs 5000/- each, encouraging participation and recognition for preserving this intangible cultural heritage. This contest is open to Indian nationals only.
