The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA) is inviting applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship Program to support early-career researchers conducting innovative research in diabetes, metabolism, or endocrinology. The fellowship aims to strengthen independent research careers while encouraging collaboration across institutions, disciplines, sectors, and international research environments.
Focus Areas
The fellowship supports research in diabetes, metabolism, and endocrinology, with particular emphasis on international collaboration, interdisciplinary collaboration, collaboration across sectors, patient and public involvement (PPI), researcher mobility, scientific networking, and career development for early-career researchers.
Funding Information
Each fellowship provides 1,200,000 DKK to cover salary costs for a two-year postdoctoral position. The fellowship may also be undertaken as a part-time position combined with clinical work, provided the employing institution secures the salary for the clinical appointment.
Program Objectives
The fellowship is designed to help early-career researchers establish or strengthen their independent research profile while expanding their scientific networks. DDEA encourages applicants to enhance their research experience through mobility by undertaking postdoctoral training at a different institution from where they completed their PhD, spending part of the fellowship at an international research institution, or gaining experience in another sector such as industry, general practice, hospitals, or universities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be postdoctoral candidates working in the fields of diabetes, metabolism, or endocrinology.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or have their PhD thesis accepted for defence by the time grant notifications are issued.
Previous employment as a postdoctoral researcher must not exceed three years in total (full-time equivalent) at the time of application.
The principal supervisor must be employed at the Danish research institution where the applicant will be employed and where the research project will be conducted.
Applicants may submit only one postdoctoral fellowship application per application round across all DDEA postdoctoral fellowship calls.
Principal investigators may host only one active two-year DDEA-funded postdoctoral fellow or one active 2/3 DDEA-funded PhD scholar at a time, subject to DDEA funding conditions.
