Deadline: 9-December-2025
Eligible applicants may request up to $15,000 to cover project-related expenses such as subsistence costs, materials, rentals, travel, accessibility needs, and professional fees for collaborators. The subsistence support of up to $750 per week is intended to assist applicants with living costs during their project.
Projects eligible for funding must begin after the application closing date and may include the creation, criticism, or curation of a body of work. The grant encourages ethical and equitable creative processes, fair compensation to artists, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and other collaborators, and adherence to community and cultural protocols. Applicants are expected to follow international intellectual property rights standards and ensure the safety and inclusivity of all participants.
Eligible applicants must be established visual or craft artists, independent critics, or curators who have completed appropriate training, practiced professionally for at least two years, and demonstrated recognized professional achievements such as curated exhibitions or published critical works. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have lived in British Columbia for at least 12 continuous months before the application deadline.
Applications will be evaluated on three key criteria: Artistic Contribution and Significance, Impact on the Applicant and Community and Feasibility. The assessment will consider the project’s quality, originality, and scope, its relevance to the applicant’s professional development, its alignment with the priorities of reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access, as well as the clarity and practicality of its proposed timeline and budget.
The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Only one application per intake is allowed, and applicants may apply for a single project per submission. Required materials include a detailed project timeline, examples of work, a CV, and confirmations from collaborators or partners, if applicable.
