Deadline: 24-Jul-2025

Are you a girl between the ages of 17 and 25 with a passion for technology, leadership, and driving social change? The African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) is back, and applications are now open for its 2025 camps in Kenya. This initiative is designed for aspiring coders, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs ready to shape Africa’s digital future.

UN Women Kenya, in partnership with Siemens AG, the African Union Commission, and the International Telecommunication Union, is organizing these camps to equip 100 girls and young women across Kenya with digital skills, mentorship, and leadership training. The camps are being held in close collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, Ministry of Gender, and Ministry of Education.

Two residential coding camps will take place in Nairobi. Camp I will run from 16th to 29th August 2025, and Camp II from 6th to 19th September 2025. Each camp will host 50 participants for an immersive experience covering coding, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, civic tech, and digital entrepreneurship.

Participants will join a fully sponsored residential tech bootcamp, engage in hands-on learning, and tackle real-world digital challenges. They will receive mentorship from women in STEM and AGCCI alumni, and explore how digital tools can promote gender equality and social impact. Sessions will also address Gender-Based Violence and Technology-Facilitated GBV, promoting safe digital participation.

Girls will learn to design and pitch tech solutions addressing local issues and gain access to networks and leadership opportunities beyond the camp. The program is open to girls and young women from across Kenya, especially from underserved communities. Students or recent graduates interested in tech are encouraged to apply, and girls with disabilities are strongly welcomed and supported.

Previous coding experience is not required—only motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and lead. To apply, complete the application form, provide valid contact details, and indicate your preferred camp dates. If you are under 18, a signed authorization from a parent or guardian is required. A template for this consent is available through the registration link.
