The iDEX Open Challenge is an initiative by iDEX – DIO launched to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in India’s defence and aerospace sectors by inviting proposals that leverage advanced technology solutions from Indian startups, individual innovators, and MSMEs through a submission process on the iDEX portal.
Themes: The Open Challenge invites proposals under various leading technology domains, including aerospace, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, among others.

The iDEX Open Challenge aims to create opportunities for innovators to propose ways for harnessing their technology capabilities to strengthen India’s military superiority. The challenge is open to Indian startups, individual innovators, and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) who have innovative solutions applicable to defence and aerospace sectors. Participants must submit their proposals exclusively through the iDEX portal, with detailed descriptions of their technology or solution, its potential applications, and preferably, demonstrations of feasibility. Selected innovators have the opportunity to engage directly with the military, showcasing their technologies facilitated by DIO and its Partner Incubators. This provides a government-supported framework for participants to transform their ideas into viable solutions, contributing significantly to defence innovation and industrial growth. The program builds a crucial bridge between technology creators and the defence sector, encouraging entrepreneurship and fostering technological advancements in critical strategic areas.
