1st Open Call for BRIN Bilateral Cooperation Program (Turkey and Indonesia)

CFPs: West Africa Research Ecosystem Assessment Scorecard Program

Deadline: 26-Jan-2026

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye is inviting applications for its Bilateral Cooperation Program to enhance collaboration between Turkish and Indonesian participants in science and industry by means of Academy-Industry Cooperation projects and co-creation of innovations.

Applications under this call are invited in the fields of Epidemiology and Public Health, Treatment Technologies, Climate Change Environment and Biodiversity, Green and Sustainable Agriculture.

This bilateral initiative emphasizes the importance of international cooperation by requiring joint applications from both Turkish and Indonesian partners, as unilateral submissions are not accepted.

The Principal Investigator (PI) from academia must hold a PhD, while those from the public or private sector must have at least a bachelor’s degree. TÜBİTAK will fund up to 6,500,000 Turkish Liras per project, with a maximum of 3,000,000 Turkish Liras allocated to academic or public institution partners.

For the Turkish side, the consortium must include at least one academic partner—such as a public institution, research organization, university, or training and research hospital—and one Turkish commercial company.

For the Indonesian side, the consortium must include at least one research institution and one company or industry partner, with the PI required to hold a doctoral degree. BRIN will support up to five projects per topic, offering funding of up to IDR 1 billion per project per year. The duration of each project is limited to 36 months.

Projects must align with the key objectives of producing a new product, increasing product quality or standards, developing new techniques to reduce costs and increase standards, or developing new production technologies.

Priority is given to research and experimental development projects focused on technologically new or improved products and process innovation, while basic research and investment-oriented projects are excluded.

Eligible research stages include concept development, feasibility studies, laboratory or design-related studies, prototype production, and design application tests. Both sides are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation costs related to researcher mobility, which must not exceed 60 days per year.

Project proposals must be submitted in parallel to both TÜBİTAK and BRIN, with identical content and clear demonstration of balanced collaboration between the Turkish and Indonesian teams.

Proposals will be jointly evaluated by TÜBİTAK and BRIN based on scientific excellence, methodology, project management, collaboration structure, and potential impact. Only projects approved by both funding agencies will receive financial support.
