Deadline: 20 November 2025
The Mophradat has announced an open call for its year-long “New Agents” program, aimed at assembling a group of six practitioners from diverse art fields whose work is future-facing, socially engaged, and rooted in regions marked by complex cultural and historical contexts.
Through this open call, Mophradat will compose a group of six people from across art fields whose practices are singular, future facing, and committed to public engagement. What the participants also share is that they come from territories whose pasts are formed by overlapping cultural references and conditions, their present tainted by overwhelming violence, and their future unpredictable.
The “New Agents” program is designed for experienced artists who are already actively engaged in their practice and seek to expand their work through collaboration and learning. Over the course of one year, the selected participants will work collectively to co-develop and realize a public proposal that could take the form of a live event such as a conference, festival, or exhibition.
Participants will engage in a variety of structured activities, including online workshops with invited artists, one-on-one conversations with a Mophradat advisor, and six weekend-long online seminars curated by each participant for the group. Midway through the program, the participants will gather for a one-week retreat to finalize their public project proposal, which will be presented at the end of the year.
Each selected participant will receive a stipend of 6,000 USD, distributed in three installments, along with travel coverage for the retreat and a production budget for the final event. Mophradat will also offer ongoing curatorial guidance through regular discussions with the group.
The program seeks individuals who are ambitious, generous, curious, and precise, and who are willing to commit fully to the collective process and scheduled activities. Applicants must demonstrate an established artistic practice and at least four years of active work in the arts. They must also show significant firsthand living experience in the Arab world, a strong command of Arabic, and basic proficiency in English.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews on December 2 or 3, 2025, and all applicants will receive a response by December 20, 2025. Selected participants will sign a grant agreement with Mophradat and are expected to attend a feedback session at the end of the program, sharing their reflections on the experience.
The deadline for applications is 20 November 2025.
