The Peace and Security Fellowship is a fully funded one-year programme supporting Sudanese women engaged in activism, leadership, and peacebuilding work. It focuses on strengthening skills in conflict resolution, governance, and the Women, Peace and Security agenda through academic study, field placements, and research.
The fellowship includes training in Nairobi and London, followed by professional placements in African peace and security institutions.

Programme Structure
The fellowship runs for one year and is divided into two phases:
Phase 1: Academic Learning (First 6 Months)

- Study at the African Leadership Centre in Nairobi and King’s College London
- Engage in leadership and conflict studies focused on Africa
- Participate in simulation seminars on conflict scenarios
- Visit peace and security institutions across Africa and Europe
Phase 2: Practical Placement (Next 6 Months)
Participants will:
- Undertake placements in African regional organisations or centres of excellence
- Gain hands-on experience in peacebuilding and policy work
- Complete research and policy writing activities
- Develop an 8,000–10,000 word research project
- Produce a policy brief aligned with peace and security priorities
Mentorship and Support
Throughout the fellowship, participants receive:

Funding Coverage
The fellowship is fully funded and includes:
- Tuition fees
- Living and subsistence costs in the UK and Africa
- Travel expenses for both programme phases
Not covered:
- Visa application and processing fees

- Accommodation in Nairobi (provided at ALC guest facilities)
- Self-arranged accommodation during placement phase
