New Zealand approves $5.2 Million Humanitarian Assistance for South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia

UN Habitat Call for Proposals: Rehabilitation and Reactivation of Public Spaces in Lebanon

Humanitarian funding of $5.2 million has been approved by New Zealand to combat critical humanitarian needs such as food insecurity and acute malnutrition, for South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia and help prevent the risk of famine.

This support will be delivered through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Sudan and Somalia, and the UN World Food Programme in Ethiopia. The New Zealand Government remains committed to doing our part to help address global humanitarian needs, particularly those arising from conflict and food insecurity.

The ongoing conflict in South Sudan, and prolonged drought, recent heavy rains and pockets of violence in Ethiopia and Somalia, have contributed to deeply concerning humanitarian situations in all three countries.
