Wetland Mitigation Banking Program (United States)

The United States Department of State (USDA) has announced $750,000 grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Citizens Association for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and all Forms of Gender-Based Violence (NGO Atina). This is a 30-month project that will help to combat modern slavery and trafficking networks that target vulnerable individuals.

This grant will help victims of trafficking in eight cities throughout Serbia: Belgrade, Vranje, Subotica, Novi Sad, Niš, Sremska Mitrovica, Kragujevac, and Kraljevo. Freeing victims, preventing trafficking, and bringing traffickers to justice are the ultimate goals of the report and of the U.S. Government’s anti-trafficking policy.

The project will provide emergency and long-term support services to victims of trafficking, help local authorities provide specialized assistance to child victims, and support the Government’s Action Plan and National Strategy to prevent and suppress human trafficking.

In particular, the International Rescue Committee and Atina have demonstrated a commitment to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and bring justice to criminals who benefit from illegal trafficking activities.
