The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking proposals for its program entitled “Capitalizing on peaceful religious co-existence for preventing violent extremism: Analysis of Social Cohesion in Albania based on the SCORE methodology”. Its aim is to conduct an analysis of social cohesion in Albania based on the SCORE methodology.
The work will serve as input to the action plan of the implementation of the National Strategy and at the same time will be further used for programming of efforts in tackling violent extremism. This study will be particularly useful for tailoring the National Strategy to the particular cases (communities, social groups) that have unique characteristics.
Programme Tasks
Overseen by UNDP Albania and through the technical guidance from the UNDP Regional Hub in Istanbul, tasks will include:
- Adoption of the SCORE questionnaire for Albania
- Sample of national representation of 1000 individuals with adequate weights for 61 municipalities of the country and urban / rural divide
- Survey field work, data processing and cleaning
- In depth case study analysis in 3 communities
- Up to 4 focus groups (youth, women, religious communities, hotspots)
- An online platform that can gather views and perceptions that can be blended into the analysis
- A narrative report in both English and Albanian including an executive summary and conclusions and recommendations for further programming including design, infographics and presentation of survey results
Eligibility Criteria
Profile of the NGO
The civil society organization should have the following characteristics:
- At least 10 years of experience in policy research and analysis, with track record of publications and surveys
- Adequate capacities and staff with experience in consultations, citizen engagement, public awareness and advocacy for policy purposes
- Previous work with international organisations in similar assignments
- Previous experience in researching issues of violent extremism will be considered an asset
Team of experts
For the completion of this work, the NGO should make available the following team of experts:
- Lead author
The lead author will be in charge for the leading the work, coordination of the team and will also be the interface of the NGO with UNDP. S/he should display the following characteristics:- Advanced degree in social sciences or humanities
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in conducting research and public policy analysis with a focus on governance, security and religious studies
- Previous experience with track record on drafting analytical reports for international organisations
- Good inter-personal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Fluency of English, including report writing and presentation skills
- Technical expert – Statistical Expert
- Education background in statistics/applied economics
- 10 years of experience in research on national scale surveys
- Previous experience in similar assignments

- Advanced education background in social sciences or humanities
- At least 5 years of experience in conducting policy research, data analysis and focus groups
- Previous experience in similar assignments
