Deadline: 1-December-2025
The focus of this opportunity is on using sport and recreation to build a more equitable tomorrow by creating positive outcomes for youth aged 6–29, prioritizing Black youth, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis youth, women and girl-identified youth, newcomer and refugee youth, 2SLGBTQIA+ identified youth, youth facing socio-economic barriers, and youth with disabilities.
The Community Action Grant provides up to $50,000 in funding to eligible Ontario-based organizations. Applications are reviewed to ensure eligibility criteria are met, including that applicants must be Qualified Donees under the Income Tax Act or work in partnership with a trustee organization that holds Qualified Donee status. Eligible applicants include registered charities, registered Ontario amateur athletic associations, registered housing corporations in Ontario, registered Ontario municipalities, and Métis, Inuit, or First Nation communities or bands.
Organizations located outside of the Greater Toronto Area are prioritized to ensure equitable distribution of funds across Ontario. The grant supports pilot programs, grassroots community-driven recreational initiatives, and established programs with demonstrable impact. Eligible expenses include program staff salaries, training, capacity development, research, evaluation, and program equipment.
Organizations not designated as Qualified Donees or without a trustee, those based outside Ontario, or proposals without sport and life-skills components are not eligible. Political, religious, or sponsorship-based proposals are also excluded.
