Quantum-AI Biomedical Frontiers Fellowship Programme 2026 (Denmark)

#image_title

Deadline: 29-Jan-2026

The Novo Nordisk Foundation together with the Cleveland Clinic has launched the Cleveland Clinic – Denmark: Quantum-AI Biomedical Frontiers Fellowship Programme to leverage quantum technologies and/or AI around key scientific areas.

Enhanced diagnostic precision involves utilising quantum sensing and AI-driven analytics to improve diagnostics, thereby increasing accuracy and reducing diagnostic times. Innovative drug discovery applies quantum computing and machine learning algorithms to simulate and predict molecular interactions at an unprecedented scale and speed, potentially reducing the time and cost associated with discovering new drugs.

Optimisation of clinical trials employs sophisticated data analysis tools to improve the design and efficiency of clinical trials, enabling more personalised medicine approaches. Personalised medicine development uses AI to analyse vast datasets from genomic information and clinical records to tailor treatments to individual patients.

Through this fellowship, researchers will have the opportunity to develop a project at Cleveland Clinic or a Danish research institute for up to three years, with the possibility of an optional return phase of up to one year. The programme is intended to provide researchers with extensive research experience in a unique interdisciplinary environment while encouraging international collaboration and independence.

The fellowship will provide funding of up to DKK 1.2 million per year over three years, with a maximum of DKK 3.6 million per fellowship. Eligible expenses include salary for the applicant, administrative expenses at Danish universities, hospitals, and Cleveland Clinic, as well as operating costs such as equipment, consumables, and bench fees. Support will also be available for dissemination, training, education, conference participation, publication costs, relocation expenses, and health insurance. Funding will not cover commercial activities, overhead or indirect costs, or projects with budgetary overlaps.

Applicants must hold a PhD obtained within five years of the fellowship start date or be expected to graduate before the start. Eligible degrees include medicine, natural and technical sciences, biomedicine, or biotechnology. Those applying to a Danish research institution must secure affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic, a committed host PI in Denmark, and a hosting letter from the Danish institution.

Applications will be evaluated by NNF’s Committee on Interdisciplinary Research based on the creativity, novelty, and ambition of the project, innovation potential, scientific excellence of the applicant, involvement of the host research group, and required supporting letters. Applicants may only submit one fellowship application at a time and must disclose any co-funding arrangements. The deadline for application is 29 January 2026.
