Request for Proposals: UPCWGS Research Grant Program (Philippines)

GFI Alternative Protein Research Grants

Deadline: 03-Nov-2025

The University of the Philippines Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) is now accepting proposals for its 2026 UPCWGS Research Grant to support cutting-edge research on women and gender in the Philippines.

The UPCWGS will provide a maximum of PhP150,000 in support to each of the six selected projects, ensuring that researchers can pursue their work within the given timeframe. The additional period for journal and policy brief preparation underscores the program’s emphasis on disseminating findings in both academic and policy-making spaces.

Applicants must be the sole researcher, or the project leader of the research team, must be a regular employee of the University of the Philippines. Applicants are required to demonstrate their eligibility as University of the Philippines employees and to provide the necessary documents to complete their submissions.

Research proposals will be evaluated according to several key criteria, including the timeliness and relevance of the topic, the creativity of the proposed approach, the soundness of the methodology, the contribution the study can make to existing knowledge, the potential social impact it may generate, and the overall effectiveness of the writing style.

Applicants must submit an accomplished Project Proposal Form, and for research projects without prior ethical clearance, the proposal should also include an application for ethical clearance as part of the project timeline and budget, with an additional two months allotted for this process before the six-month research period. Along with the proposal, a cover letter expressing interest and summarizing the project must be provided, as well as a recommendation letter from the project leader’s past or present supervisor.

Application closes on 3 November 2025.
