Forte funds research in three main fields: Health, focusing on public and individual health, disease prevention, healthcare systems, and effective implementation methods; Working Life, examining labor markets, work organization, and the impact of societal changes like migration and technology on employment and workplace wellbeing and Welfare, addressing social policy, insurance systems, and the welfare and living conditions of various groups to promote inclusion and social development in Sweden.
This call is designed for researchers at Swedish research institutions who wish to invite a researcher affiliated with a research institution in the United States. The purpose of the visiting researcher grant is to promote development, collaboration, and learning, while enabling an exchange of knowledge and experience between the American and Swedish research communities. The visiting researcher grant aims to strengthen the quality and relevance of Swedish research and increase its international dissemination through academic exchange.
A total budget of about SEK 10 million has been allocated for this call. Applicants can request up to SEK 2 million for a grant period ranging from a minimum of six months to a maximum of one year. The requested funding amount must include indirect costs or overheads. Each applicant may submit only one application under this call.
Eligibility requires that both the Swedish main applicant and the visiting researcher hold a doctoral degree by the closing date of the call. The Swedish host researcher must submit the application and represent the visiting researcher in all communications with Forte. Applications exceeding the funding cap or those that do not comply with the stated requirements will be rejected.
Forte will assess applications based on scientific quality, societal relevance and utilisation, feasibility, and internationalisation. The evaluation will consider the clarity and coherence of the research description, the societal importance of the project, the reasonableness of the work plan and budget, and the potential for knowledge exchange between Swedish and international research communities.
Additionally, applicants must address any applicable sex and gender perspectives and ensure that all research activities are conducted ethically.
