Fifth Operational Phase of the GEF Small Grants Programme (Gabon)

Civil Society Engagement in Ukraine's EU Accession Negotiations Competition

Deadline: 25-Oct-2025

The United Nations Development Programme in Gabon is inviting civil society organizations to apply for a new call for project proposals under GEF Small Grants Programme, Operational Phase 8.

The call targets initiatives in the areas of community biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture and fisheries, and capacity strengthening of local communities, especially in ecosystems suffering from degradation.

Applicants must be legally registered CSOs within Gabon and should select one of the priority thematic areas connected to degraded ecosystems and the communities that rely on them. Organizations must submit an Expression of Interest by 25 October 2025 to a designated email address, using a template provided by UNDP. Those whose EOIs align with the phase’s strategic priorities will be invited to submit a concept note within 10 days of notification.

The shortlisted proposals will undergo a transparent and independent review by Gabon’s national project committee (CNP), which will make final funding decisions. The process aims to ensure fairness, alignment with national strategy, and high relevance to the thematic priorities.

This opportunity offers Gabonese civil society groups a pathway to access much-needed support to implement locally grounded, environmentally sustainable projects that can protect biodiversity, improve food security, and strengthen community capacities in fragile ecosystems.
