The Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council is inviting grant applications to support Emerging Swiss Authors at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Pro Helvetia promotes the professional contemporary Swiss art and cultural production (without film) with a view to diversity as well as national and international reach. It supports the creation of new artistic works and productions, the exchange between Switzerland’s various linguistic regions, the dissemination of Swiss art and culture outside Switzerland and international cultural exchange.
Costs Covered
- Hotel and travel expenses
- Per diems
- Trade fair passes
Eligibility Criteria
- Emerging authors. To be eligible as an emerging author, applicants must have completed their artistic training or presented their work to the public for the first time within the last five years. This period may be extended for verifiable reasons, such as an interruption of artistic work due to care work, inability to work or similar.
- Professional writers who identify as FINTA (women, intersex, non-binary, transgender, and agender people)
- All languages and literary genres are permitted.
- To be eligible for support, projects must:
- have a clear connection to Switzerland
- be of nationwide importance
- be adequately co-funded by other public or private means
- respects/guarantee fair working conditions.
Selection Criteria
- Legitimate motivation
- Linguistic and regional diversity
- Regular presence in the Swiss cultural scene
- Good knowledge of German and/or English (the programme is mainly held in German or English).
Application Requirements
- Short CV (max. 1 A4 page)
- Letter of motivation (max. 1,000 characters)
- Publications and previous activities in the literary world.
