Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GoI) is pleased to announce its IndiaSkills Competition to showcase and honing the skills of Indian youth.
To position India as a global leader in skilled craftsmanship and technical excellence, the initiative fosters a culture of skill development, innovation, and competitiveness among youth. It provides a national platform for young Indian skilled professionals to demonstrate their talent and compete at the highest levels, while promoting the importance of skill development as a key pathway for individual growth and national progress. It also aligns Indian skills standards with international benchmarks and prepares participants for global competitions like the WorldSkills. At the same time, it bridges the gap between industry needs and skill availability by focusing on industry-relevant skills and training, and creates awareness about the career opportunities available through vocational training and skill development.
The competition highlights the importance and value of vocational skills and trades and provides a platform for young talent to gain recognition at both national and international levels. It identifies highly skilled youth and facilitates their growth through training, mentorship, and exposure, while encouraging lifelong learning and continuous improvement. It ensures that skills training and competition standards are closely aligned with current industry requirements and fosters partnerships between industry and skill development institutions. The initiative prepares Indian participants to compete successfully in international skills competitions such as WorldSkills, promotes skills on the global stage, and facilitates international knowledge exchange. It also influences and informs policy frameworks to strengthen the relevance and quality of vocational training, advocates for increased investment in skill development initiatives, and enhances employability by equipping youth with industry-ready skills and bridging the skill gap in the Indian job market.
The winners of the IndiaSkills Competition receive advanced training and mentorship to prepare them for representing the nation at prestigious platforms like the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) and WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC). This process not only nurtures individual talent but also brings global recognition to India’s commitment towards skill excellence.
By creating a strong ecosystem that connects youth, industry, and skill development institutions, the competition strengthens vocational education and fosters a culture of innovation. It acts as a catalyst to address the skill gap in the workforce while simultaneously preparing young professionals to thrive in globally competitive environments.
