The Villa Albertine, a cultural establishment of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is launching in 2023, with the support of the FACE foundation, a new acceleration program, French Museums Next Generation , aimed at young museum professionals in France. , with the ambition of participating in the renewal of the Franco-American dialogue on the challenges faced by museum institutions.
The French Museums Next Generation program will thus invite 8 young professionals from French museums each year (curators, conservation officers, collections managers) to take part in a two-week immersion program at United States.
This program aims to:
- To better know and understand the American museum ecosystem in all its dimensions;
- To inspire French professionals in their own practices and to confront them with the practice of their American counterparts;
- To strengthen the international dimension of the young generation of French curators and their network across the Atlantic;
- To promote a new generation of French curators in the American professional environment.
For its first edition, this program will take place in Los Angeles, from March 26 to April 2, 2023, then in New York, from May 14 to 21, 2023.
As part of the first edition of the French Museums Next Generation program , the winners are invited to Los Angeles (1 week in winter 2023) and New York (1 week in spring 2023) for a series of meetings and visits.

- Presentations to identify the specificities and challenges of American museums in their scientific, educational, organizational and philanthropic dimensions;
- Privileged meetings with leaders and key players in the field (directors, curators, development and sponsorship managers, educational managers, patrons, etc.);
- Field visits to the most dynamic and innovative institutions in the country;
- Networking events with American professionals in New York and Los Angeles.

Eligibility Criteria
- Coming from all the specialties of art history, the participants are selected on the basis of their scientific achievements (exhibitions, publications) and the conduct of innovative museum projects, their ability to think about the museum of tomorrow and their interest for international and managerial issues, giving them the potential to be future directors of institutions and museums.
- The program is open to candidates who meet the following profile:
- Heritage curators (State, City of Paris or local authorities), conservation attachés, collection managers working in a museum in France;
- Justifying 5 to 15 years of experience;
- Not yet positioned in an establishment management position;
- Of French nationality or practicing in France.
- Applications will be assessed on the basis of the quality of the candidate’s background, their interest in participating in this program with regard to their background and their motivation.
- The participants are selected by a jury of French museum professionals.
