Call for Submissions: Toto Photography Award (India)

Call for Nominations: Achievement Awards 2025

Deadline: 30-Sep-2025

Nominations are now open for the Toto Photography Award to celebrate original and compelling photographic work by young creators.

This non-commercial, not-for-profit award celebrates emerging talent in the photographic medium, supporting artists who bring a distinct vision, style, and voice to their work.

The award carries a prize of ₹60,000 each for two winners, with the deadline for applications set as 30 September 2025. Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 29 years old, with their date of birth on or between 1 January 1996 and 1 January 2008. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply, while Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are not. Applicants must apply directly themselves, as entries sent by galleries or agencies will be disqualified.

Applicants must submit still images created entirely by themselves, which may include black-and-white or colour photographs, or a mix of both. Participants can submit one or two series, each comprising a minimum of eight and a maximum of sixteen images. The submitted images must form a series on the same theme, edited in the same style, as random assortments of unrelated images will not be accepted. Moving images and video art are not allowed. The permissible file formats are JPEG or PNG, with each file not exceeding 1 MB, resolution fixed at 72 dpi, and maximum dimension on the long side capped at 1500 pixels.

Images generated using artificial intelligence, photographs taken for advertisements or commercial use, and images that infringe copyright are strictly disallowed. Additionally, previously submitted series from earlier applications will not be considered, as applicants must submit entirely new work each time they apply.

Each submission must include up to two series of images along with a title not exceeding ten words, and an artist statement of at least 250 words. The statement should describe the series, sharing the creator’s vision, process, and the meaning behind the work to give insight into their creative practice. It is important that no name or watermark is included in the submitted work, and that the applicant holds full and unconditional copyright of all entries.

After submission, the jury’s decision will be final and cannot be contested. Winning entries may be featured on the TFA website, blog, and promotional materials, with full credit given to the artist. The copyright remains with the creator. Winners must acknowledge the “TOTO Award for Photography 2026” whenever their winning images are exhibited or published, for two years following the award.
