Daring – Short Film Funding Program in Germany

Call for Applications: Ji.hlava/JB Films Support Scheme (Czech Republic and Slovakia)

Deadline: 10-Nov-2025

The Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt has launched the Short Film Funding Program “Dare-Mutig” to support young filmmakers in their creative journey. The program includes funding for script and project development, production support, and assistance with festival participation.

The foundation offers a three-month scholarship of €1,500 per month for script and project development. This support is aimed at helping filmmakers develop their ideas into viable film productions. Schoolchildren, students, and trainees are not eligible to apply for this funding.

For production support, the program funds short films up to 30 minutes in length. It covers up to 90% of total production costs, with a funding cap of €20,000. This applies to various film formats, including feature films, animations, documentaries, and experimental films.

To promote festival participation, the program provides up to €2,000 in fixed-amount funding for presenting short films at national or international festivals. Eligible films must also not exceed 30 minutes in length.

Filmmakers or artists eligible for support must be self-employed and either live in Saxony-Anhalt or have a project connected to the region. Production companies and producers must also meet these criteria. First-time filmmakers may receive additional mentorship support from a specialist.

Overall, this funding initiative supports a diverse range of short film projects and aims to enhance the visibility of young talent from Saxony-Anhalt in the film industry.
