The Malaysian Youth Association for Diplomacy and Policy is accepting applications for EU-ASEAN Youth Diplomats Programme.
A gathering of future leaders of Malaysia, the EU-ASEAN Youth Diplomats Programme (EAYDP) is a chance to simulate leaders in government from EU and ASEAN Member States, and engage in multilateral dialogue on issues that affect us today. Celebrate the momentous milestone of 45 years of EU-ASEAN relations by looking to the future.
Programme Objectives
- To promote lifelong skills such as tact, teamwork, diplomacy, and negotiation;
- To improve critical thinking and research skills, important in academic studies and career development;
- To encourage productive dialogues with key stakeholders, and actions in raising policy and diplomatic literacy amongst Malaysian youth;
- To increase confidence in public speaking and policy writing;
- To evoke a sense of community and common understanding;
- To develop an awareness of global and localised issues;
- To exhibit leadership and commitment among youths participants;
- To demonstrate the ability to facilitate mature and respectful dialogue around sensitive and contentious topics.
Eligibility Criteria
- Aged between 18 to 25 years old and currently enrolled in a Malaysian university/college at the time of application, or to be enrolled upon commencement of the physical event.
- Check your eligibility against the application criteria for EU-ASEAN Youth Diplomats Programme (EAYDP).
- Participants must be aged between 18 and 25 by the time of the EU-ASEAN Summit.
- If you are a non-Malaysian, you would need to prove your status of either past, present or future enrolment in a Malaysian higher education institution.
- If you are a Malaysian, you would need to provide proof of citizenship upon request.
- In addition to the application eligibility, participants must also be able to attend the three online sessions and the EU-ASEAN Youth Summit. Participants will need to be willing to travel to the venue of the conference in Kuala Lumpur, from 17 to 19 February 2023. Hotel accommodation, meals and all expenses for the three-day summit will be covered by the EU, including land or air travel to the venue for participants residing outside Klang Valley.
