Social Enterprise Training in Capacity Building and Investment Readiness in Context of Asia-Pacific

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is kindly request you to submit your Proposal for Social Enterprise Training in Capacity Building and Investment Readiness in the context of Asia-Pacific.

The Regional Youth Project on Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Youth CoLab) is IINDP’s multidimensional and multi-level response to tackle the challenges of young people, including the most marginalized, face today in the Asia-Pacific region. Its main objective is to “establish a common agenda for Asia-Pacific countries to invest and empower youth to accelerate implementation of the Global Goals through social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Specifically, the project focuses on establishing a network to foster youth-led social entrepreneurship, supporting youth leadership initiatives, and providing grants for incubation financial mechanisms to fund youth-led programmes aimed at achieving the SDGs.

Tasks and Objectives

The project seeks to develop training and promotional materials that meet the needs of Chinese domestic and foreign enterprises, and organize training and promotion activities to facilitate young social entrepreneurs involved to:

• Enhance investment readiness for over SO youth-led social enterprises from China and other Asia-Pacific countries
• Develop business skills for young entrepreneurs to scale their impact
• Support the Youth Co:Lab in developing an investable startup pipeline

Main Contents

• Develop training materials based on the young social entrepreneurs’ needs for youth start-ups from China and other Asia-Pacific countries. The development of materials should meet the needs of domestic and foreign enterprises for investment readiness and should include the topics below:
  • Sourcing investors
  • Pitching to investors
  • Growth & Measuring startup success
  • Preparing for Outside investors
  • Recruiting the right team
  • Resources to grow
• Eight enterprise training and promotional activities should be organized: The training and promotion activities will be organized specifically for national and regional founders: Trainings will respectively target at:
  • One training sessions for product market fit analysis for new ventures.
  • One training sessions for business revenue steams for startups.
  • One training session for sourcing investors.
  • One training session for pitching to investors.
  • One training session for Growth & Measuring startup success.
  • One training session for Preparing for Outside investors.
  • One training session for Recruiting the right team.
  • One training session for Resources to grow.

Criteria

• Qualifications of the Service Provider/Expertise of the Firm: The Service Provider must describe and explain how and why they are the best entity that can deliver the requirements of UNDP by indicating the following:
  • Profile —describing the nature of business, field of expertise, licenses, certifications, accreditations.
    • The Service Provider should have experience in implementing relevant projects in the fields of startup investment, social enterprise twining and acceleration programmes;
  • Business Licenses — Registration Papers, etc.
  • Track Record — list of clients for similar services as those required by UNDP, indicating description of contract scope, contract duration, contract value, contact references.
    • The Service Provider should have experience in implementing relevant projects in the fields of startup investment, social enterprise twining and acceleration programmes
    • The Service Provider should have experience in the development of training and promotional materials are preferred.
  • Written Self-Declaration that the company is not in the UN Security Council 1267/1989 List, UN Procurement Division List or Other UN Ineligibility List.
• Proposed Methodology for the Completion of Services: The Service Provider must describe how it will address/deliver the demands of the RFP; providing a detailed description of the essential performance characteristics, reporting conditions and quality assurance mechanisms that will be put in place, while demonstrating that the proposed methodology will be appropriate to the local conditions and context of the work.
• Qualifications of Key Personnel: If required by the RFP, the Service Provider must provide:
  • Names and qualifications of the key personnel that will perform the services indicating who is Team Leader, who are supporting, etc. The head of the project should:
    • have worked on supporting of/er 25 startup investments, trained over 50 founders operating enterprises in Asia-Pacific on fundraising
    • have rich working experience in the fields of startup acceleration and setting up learning management platforms.
    • be familiar with relevant startup ecosystems in Asia-Pacific, and on the challenges faced by the founders scaling their impact. – Training instructors should hove experience in new venture creation, startup investment and entrepreneurship. English is the working language, where all the sessions and materials will be issued.
  • CVs demonstrating qualifications must be submitted
  • Written confirmation from the service provider that these key personnel ore available for the entire duration of the contract.
