Under the Regional Spotlight Initiative, the UN Women Multi Country Office – Caribbean is advertising this Call for Proposals (CFP) to partner with an academic institution with an established degree programme on gender and/or social statistics.
The academic institution is expected to design and deliver a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on gender analysis of prevalence produced to measure knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of violence against women and girls (VAWG); and administrative data produced on occurrences of VAWG particularly to track incidence and whether services provided are meeting minimum standards for service provision in CARICOM.
It is expected that the academic institution will develop and deliver the MOOC on Gender Analysis of Prevalence and Administrative CARICOM Data on VAWG over 2 semesters.
With this in mind, resources are being made available within the SI, for the academic institution to develop and deliver modules on the following:
- Introduction to Basic Gender Concepts;
- Understanding Violence Against Women and Girls: definitions, scope, drivers and impact;
- Understanding VAWG Data: challenges, methodologies, and tools for collecting data on violence against women and girls;
- Introduction to Gender Analysis: Concepts and Steps;
- Introduction to Research Methods and Data Analysis with a focus on violence against women and girls;
- Measuring the Prevalence of VAWG including internationally recognized standards, methods, approaches and ethical guidelines on the collection and analysis of VAWG prevalence data;
- Overview of Data from Prevalence Surveys Conducted in CARICOM;.
- Measuring knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of violence against women and girls;
- Administrative Data on VAWG – Global Examples: Health, Police, Crime and Social Assistance/Social Protection Sectors;
- Administrative Data on VAWG-CARICOM Data: Health, Police, Crime and Social Assistance/Social Protection Sectors;
- Measuring Incidence and occurrences of VAWG using administrative data: An Introduction to internationally recognised standards methods, approaches and ethical guidelines on the collection and analysis of VAWG administrative data;
- Approaches for producing and analyzing existing data to better understand the violence experienced by those who are most vulnerable, marginalized and exposed to intersecting forms of discrimination.
The academic institution is also expected to:
- Develop and administer a minimum of 5 assignments (a mix of theoretical and practical) to registered students;
- Administer an examination/test to the students to assess knowledge acquisition;
- Issue certificates of completion;
- Provide a sustainability and resource mobilization plan for continued delivery of the MOOC.
Criteria
- Technical/functional competencies required;
- Responsible Party must be a Registered Academic and Accredited Institution in CARICOM;
- At least 5 years’ experience delivering a course on gender and/or social statistics;
- At least 3 years’ experience with delivering online courses;
- At least 10 years’ experience operating in the CARICOM region;
- Provide evidence of qualified tutors to administer the modules;
- Provide evidence of information, communication and technological (ICT) capacity including statistical analyses packages and tools to administer the MOOC.
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
- Previous experience working with the United Nations;
- Previous experience delivering a course on violence against women statistics.
