UN Youth Engagement and Empowerment Programme for South Asia & Southeast Asia

Call for Proposals: Grant Competition in Georgia

Deadline: 10-Sep-21

The United Nations has announced the applications for Youth Engagement and Empowerment Programme (YEEP), an innovative initiative of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), issued its call for applications in South Asia and Southeast Asia to expand its signature Peer-to-Peer (P2P) model and tap into the talent pool of young peacebuilders in the region.

Launched in June 2020, the YEEP has engaged and empowered over 263 young men and women in Sudan, Australia and Sweden, enabling young people to contribute meaningfully to the United Nation’s global, regional and national efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism and terrorism.

The programme’s P2P model promotes effective youth engagement by enabling youth to rise as leaders in their own communities, to take ownership of their own initiatives, and to become the programme’s primary implementing partners. The YEEP focuses on maximizing engagement and local partnerships for youth.

The hybrid training course combines self-paced reading, live webinars, exercises, training videos, and ongoing coaching and mentoring from UNCCT Youth Engagement Specialists. Its aim is to prepare the selected youth as facilitators who would organize and lead their own peer-to-peer workshops. The YEEP offers a comprehensive online training course that consists of the following modules:

Duration of the course

The full course involves a 5-week online course, which can potentially culminate in an in-person event
