UNESCO has announced a call for proposals for Youth-led Psycho-social Support to Vulnerable People in Beirut Neighborhoods.

The sudden devastation came at a time when the country is severely overwhelmed; facing multiple complexities including economic and financial crisis, political deadlock, socio-economic challenges and rising rates of unemployment, poverty, and internal conflicts; as well as risk of Coronavirus.

Multiple other stakeholders including medical, relief, and aid agencies have been urgently responding to the immediate impacts of the blasts to ensure people’s rapid access to essential services, including medical care and physical and emotional protection. Young volunteers and youth organizations have been active in leading and contributing to civic relief and support efforts in the most affected neighborhoods. The UN has been actively assisting in the immediate response to this incident through the provision of financial, technical and humanitarian support.

Aims

The activity aims to support youth-led psychosocial support activity to reach out the most vulnerable populations affected by the explosion in Beirut mobilizing youth volunteerism.
