Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Grant Program - New Zealand

Deadline: 15-Aug-2025

The U.S. Embassy New Zealand Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Department of State is inviting organizations to apply for funding to develop and implement the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Conference and Regional Workshops. These programs aim to strengthen regional cooperation and leadership across key issues impacting the Pacific.

The YPL Annual Conference will take place in New Caledonia or another Melanesian country with a budget of approximately $100,000. This event will focus on multilateral policy discussions that reinforce U.S. security alliances and contribute to a safer and more prosperous Pacific region.

A YPL Regional Workshop on the Security of Food Supply will be held in Kiribati or another YPL country, also with a budget of around $100,000. The workshop will address topics like commercial fishing, land and ocean resource management, and maritime awareness to support regional strength.

Another Regional Workshop will focus on Digital Media Technology and will be held in either Australia or New Zealand. This program will help build digital storytelling skills, explore media formats, grow revenue models, and improve digital journalism to enhance safety and information access in the Pacific.

The YPL Regional Workshop on Health Security will take place in a YPL country and will also have an approximate budget of $100,000. This workshop will address health and public safety issues as critical components of regional and national security.

The total estimated funding available is $400,000. Individual awards will range from $50,000 to $100,000. Projects can run from 12 to 36 months, depending on scope and proposed outcomes.

Eligible applicants include U.S. and foreign not-for-profit organizations, think tanks, civil society and non-governmental organizations, public and private educational institutions, public international organizations, and governmental institutions.
