Call for EOIs: Video Documentation of Tribal Communities and Forest Governance (India)

MCC Residents Association Grant Program (Ireland)

Deadline: 25-Aug-2025

Vasundhara, a research and policy advocacy organization based in Odisha, is inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced individuals, creative agencies, or production houses for video documentation of two short documentaries focused on tribal communities and forest governance.

The two documentary projects will focus on the conversion of a forest village into a revenue village, chronicling the transition process and highlighting the legal, administrative, and socio-political dimensions along with its impact on the community’s access to rights, services, and entitlements, and on the cultural aspects of the Juanga Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), exploring their rich and unique heritage, traditions, festivals, indigenous knowledge systems, and deep relationship with the forest.

The scope of work includes concept development in consultation with the Vasundhara team, script writing, storyboarding, and field-based video shoots, along with interviews with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders. It will also cover video editing, subtitling in English and Odia, voice-over, background score, and final production. Deliverables will include two documentary films of 8–12 minutes each in Full HD and short teasers of 30–60 seconds for social media promotion.

Applicants must have prior experience in documentary filmmaking, particularly on social, tribal, or environmental issues, and should be willing to travel and shoot in remote rural locations in Odisha. Proficiency in Odia or experience working with tribal communities will be considered an advantage.

Interested applicants or agencies should submit a brief profile with relevant past work experience, samples of previous documentaries, a technical and financial proposal with separate quotes for each film, the expected duration for completing the documentaries, and PAN/GST details, if applicable.
