The Goethe-Institut Kigali is calling on artists in Rwanda to apply to the newest call for applications to support innovative artistic and cultural initiatives in Rwanda.
It is important to them to give upcoming as well as established artists a platform to share their art and support them to expand their audiences locally and internationally. They are looking for artists, collectives and/or curators to propose concepts for contemporary art exhibition projects, who want to work together with them in the process. The proposed exhibition projects can be both a solo or group exhibition, ideally with a special focus on installations, video work, performance art and other innovative media.
What can you expect from them?
- financial support of up to 1.000.000 RWF
- organisation of an event to showcase the outcomes of the project (if applicable)
- provision of their space
- support through their network
- visibility on their social media channels and website.
What do they expect from you?
- a conceptualised project idea (see example)
- a filled out application form
- budget plan
- CV of the project leader
- further references and material (links, photographs, videos of work,…)
- concrete ideas on how you wish to implement the project
- innovative thinking
- reliance and motivation to work together with them on the project
- providing them with footage of the project execution and copyrights to these images.
Eligibility Criteria
- All artists from Rwanda that have an innovative project idea.

Ineligible Projects
- Projects they will not support:
- artists looking for co-funders of already existing projects
- bigger projects that need subsidization
- commercial productions (f. ex. film and album productions).
