Wakefield Council announces Culture Small Grants (UK)

Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust Grants Programme – UK

Deadline: 15-Sep-2025

The Wakefield Council is offering a vibrant opportunity for constituted community groups, registered charities, CICs, and other VCSE organisations to bring culture directly into the heart of local communities through its Culture Grants Small scheme.

With grants of up to £2,000 available, this initiative invites creative ideas that enrich the local arts, heritage, and cultural landscape, especially where these activities will be accessible to residents and engage underserved audiences.

Once selected, successful applicants receive eight weeks’ notice before a decision is reached, followed by two weeks allocated for contract and financial arrangements—meaning projects can typically begin within ten weeks of applying.

Recognising diverse needs and access requirements, Wakefield Council offers multiple application formats, including Word documents, e‑forms, and even audio or video submissions for those who prefer them. The process aims to be as inclusive as possible, allowing communities to respond in ways that work best for them.

Once projects wrap up, organisations are asked to complete a simple evaluation that helps capture the impact of their cultural activity and inform future support. This reflective process ensures that the council and participating groups can learn and grow together, fostering sustainability and ongoing creativity across the district.

This grant scheme is more than financial assistance—it’s an invitation to make culture visible, meaningful, and vibrant throughout Wakefield. It supports community-driven projects that celebrate heritage, inspire creativity, and bring people together through shared cultural experiences.
