The Australia Day community event funding is now open for applications to support small community events across the Tweed Shire.
Categories
- Citizen of the Year – this is an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Tweed Shire community
- Arts and Culture Award – this is an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to cultural development within the Tweed Shire Community Volunteer of the Year (Individual) – this is an individual who has made a significant contribution to volunteer works within the community
- Volunteer of the Year (Group) – this is a group who has made a significant contribution to volunteer works within the community
- Sporting Achievement (Individual) – this award is for an outstanding playing sportsperson, or an ancillary volunteer who has dedicated a lot of time and effort into sports
- Sporting Achievement (Group) – this award is for an outstanding playing sports team, or an ancillary volunteer group who has dedicated a lot of time and effort into sports
- Community Event of the Year – an event that promotes and increases the profile of its local area and/or delivers wider benefits across the Tweed Shire community
- Young Achiever in Community Service – a young person 25 years of age and under, who has made a significant contribution to the community.
Funding Information
- The 3 categories of funding support on offer are:
- Category 1: $300 for events up to 149 attendees
- Category 2: $400 for events with 150 – 249 attendees
- Category 3: $500 for events with more than 250 attendees.
Criteria
- The event must take place on Australia Day (26 January), subject to the COVID-19 restrictions and the NSW Public Orders at the time.
- The event must be a public event accessible to everyone.
- No financial assistance will be given to privately owned businesses/companies.
- No financial assistance will be given to Government Departments or agencies or for support of Government owned facilities.
- Organisations must be Tweed based.
- The funds are not to be used for a social activity for members of the organisation exclusively.
- That the organisation be incorporated.
- That the organisation holds Public Liability Insurance.
- The event organiser is to provide Council with a COVID-19 Safe Plan.
- Full or partial or no funding may result following assessment by the Tweed Shire Australia Day Awards Selection Panel.
- The event organisers must recognise Council’s support for the event on the day and in all promotional material (including posters, flyers and social media).
- An event acquittal be submitted after the event and additional information may be requested.
- All relevant approvals are to be in place if the event is planned to be held on Council managed land such as a park or beach.
