Applications Open for UNESCO’s Sport and the SDGs Youth Funshop!

Movetia inviting Applications for European Voluntary Service Programme

Deadline: 1 October 2017

Are you between 18 and 30 years old and an advocate for sport as a development tool? Do you run a sports-based social enterprise? Are you a leader in your community?  If yes, then apply for the first ever UNESCO Sport and the SDGs Youth “Funshop”.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Philippine Sports Commission are inviting young leaders from the ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste to participate in a Sport & the SDGs ‘funshop’ specially designed to enhance meaningful youth participation in sport policy design, foster cooperation across the region and make the case for sport as an important development tool.

The 3 day “FUNSHOP” (a workshop designed to emphasize positive thoughts and interactions inherent to sport), will be both learning and action-based, complete with obstacle courses, interaction with local youth and field trips to visit and participate actively in local grass-roots sport for development programmes.

The event, “Sport and the SDGs” has been designed as a follow-up to MINEPS VI    and contributes directly to Actions 1 and 2 of the Kazan Action Plan, an innovative, action-based sports policy framework designed to convert policy declarations into measurable action. Integrated with the United Nations Agenda 2030 / Sustainable Development Goals, of the three policy areas reflected in the Document, theme II is dedicated to ‘maximizing the contribution of sport to sustainable development and peace’.
