The Arab British Centre in collaboration with the British Council is seeking applications for its “Award for Culture 2017”. The Arab British Centre Award for Culture will celebrate individuals and organisations whose contribution to the dissemination of Arab arts and culture has advanced dialogue and understanding of the Arab world in the United Kingdom.
The Arab British Centre award series was established in 2008 to raise awareness of contemporary Arab culture in the UK and to give financial support to individuals and organisations in the early/mid-stages of their career. For the first time, The Award for Culture will offer two categories – one for individuals and one for organisations.

- Entry is open to residents of the UK except employees (and their families) of The Arab British Centre, resident and associate resident organisations of The Arab British Centre and previous winners of The Arab British Centre Award for Culture and Society and The Arab British Centre Award for Culture.
- The entrant(s) must be aged 18 or over. Proof of identity and age may be required.
- Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification.
- Entries that are, illegible, indecipherable, incomplete or false, will not be valid and deemed void.
- All entries must be made directly by the person entering the competition.
- The awards are open to individuals and organisations whose contribution to the dissemination of Arab arts and culture has advanced dialogue and understanding of the Arab world in the United Kingdom, with the exception of:
- A previous winner of The Arab British Centre Award for Culture and Society
- A current Arab British Centre resident organisation
- A current Arab British Centre associate resident organisation
- The candidate’s work must be accessible to the British public and must have been delivered in the UK within the past 2 years
- Previously shortlisted or nominated candidates are eligible to apply.
