The East African Community Secretariat (EACS) in collaboration with the Regional Dialogue Committee (RDC), in partnership with GIZ is currently inviting applications for its Incubator for Integration and Development in East Africa (IIDEA) which incubates small-scale regional integration projects, proposed and implemented by civil society, private sector and other interest groups in East Africa. It is cross border in nature, with projects expected to involve at least two EAC Partner States.
IIDEA projects puts into action and showcases the success stories and impacts of the EAC Common Market Protocol. This could include provisions such as the free movement of citizens, labor, goods, capital and the rights of establishment and residence of citizens in East Africa.

Funding Information
GIZ-EAC anticipates issuing financing support over six months to one year period, a maximum of $10,000-50,000 to the successful private sector, civil society, and other interest organization with innovative proposals.
Eligibility Criteria
- IIDEA Projects are set to be implemented through national organizations with regional programmes/cross border initiatives which benefits at least two EAC Partner States.
- Applicants with a partner from another EAC Partner State other than their own country will have added advantage.
- The eligible organizations should be drawn from registered national civil society organizations (CSOs), business organizations and or associations, sector associations, media organizations, service providers, or any other registered constellation of groups that operate across borders and/or regionally in the East African Community.
- Youth organizations and or associations are particularly encouraged to apply.
- It is important that applicants have enough capacities to commit to the project in terms of human capacity and time resources.
