Apply Now for Community Development Fund - Australia

Deadline: 30 November 2018

All stakeholders involved — be it NGOs, NPOs, academia, associations, communities, political bodies or others are invited  to forward their ideas and applications for 2019 RISK Award “Coastal resilience”.

The specific objective of the RISK Award is to increase people’s resilience to risks and disasters, especially in developing countries. The award may concentrate on population development, water as a resource, and other risk factors may also be an issue. The RISK Award’s additional objective is to stimulate innovation and new approaches towards improving risk reduction and disaster management.

The RISK Award, endowed with € 100,000, will be assigned to operational projects in the field of risk reduction and disaster management. The International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC), organised by GRF Davos, and the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, organised by UNISDR, will host the awarding ceremonies. The endowment for the RISK Award is provided by the Munich Re Foundation.

The 2019 RISK Award will fund a project, dedicated to improve risk reduction, risk management or adaptive capacities in regards to the special situation in coastal areas. Projects may include eco-system services or infrastructural approaches, capacity building or awareness raising measures, risk-sensitive land use planning, building codes and many more. The alignment of the project to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction will also be assessed.
