The European Commission is currently accepting proposals from eligible organizations for its EU Health Award for NGOs 2016 with an aim to reduce the threat to human health from antimicrobial resistance.
Focus Areas
- Prevention of infection
- Appropriate use of antimicrobials
- Surveillance
- Tackling AMR from a specific disease perspective (e.g. Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS…).
- Other initiatives that can reduce the threat to human health from AMR.
Prize Information
The winner of the competition and the two runners-up will receive:
- 1st prize: 20 000 €
- 2nd prize: 15 000 €
- 3rd prize: 10 000 €
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant is a legally established non-governmental body, non-profit-making and independent from industry, commercial and business or other conflicting interests
- The applicant acts at European, national or sub-national level.
- Only applications from entities established in one the following countries are eligible:
- EU Member States
- Iceland and Norway
- Countries which have a bilateral agreement with the European Union, in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EU) No 282/2014 on the establishment of a third Health Programme for the Union’s action in the field of health (2014-2020).
- Only applications from single applicants are acceptable (with or without partners).
- Each non-governmental body can only submit one application. If they submit more applications, extra ones will be disqualified (starting from the second initiative submitted).
- The applicant clearly addresses human health protection via one of the topics (mentioned above).
- The application describes an initiative that is related to advocacy, awareness-raising, education/training or any other activity that contributes to the protection of human health.
- The application is complete (compulsory fields of the application form are filled out). A report of maximum 5 pages must be uploaded in the submission form that should contain at least the following parts: case study, action proposed, methodology, results and conclusions. - The application is submitted using the application form from the EU Health Award page of the Public Health Website, accessible via the submission page.
- The application is submitted in English. If it is in another EU language, a translation into English is provided by the applicant.
