Applications are open for Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) 2017 to provide holistic, country-driven support to accelerate the development, deployment and transfer of locally relevant climate and clean energy technologies.
KCIC provides incubation, capacity building services and financing to Kenyan entrepreneurs and new ventures that are developing innovative solutions in energy, water and agribusiness to address climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Kenya CIC is an initiative supported by the World Bank’s infoDev and is the first in a global network of CICs being launched by infoDev’s Climate Technology Program (CTP). The Kenya CIC is funded by the United Kingdom’s UKaid and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thematic Areas
The KCIC’s mission and goals are delivered through a range of services and programs in three focus areas namely:

- Agribusiness
- Water management
Delivery Areas
KCIC provides diverse services to support entrepreneurs in clean tech sector to grow their business to the next level. The services are delivered in the following delivery areas:

- Enabling Environment
- Access to Information
Eligibility Criteria
The business should meet the following criteria:
- Must be a legal entity.
- Must have developed a prototype.
- Must be within KCIC three thematic areas of renewable energy, agribusiness and water management.
Evaluation Criteria
- Innovation – is the business innovative in the way it address an identified problems in the market?
- Eligibility – does the business idea fall within the scope of the CIC’s three thematic areas?
- Feasibility – is the business idea feasible from a technical and business perspective?
- Impact – will the business idea make a significant impact on the community, women and the environment?
- Progress to date – has the applicant taken key first steps to move the idea forward?
