The Save Our Seas Foundation annually invites applications for small projects up to US$10,000 (with grants averaging US$5,000) for the period March 2016 to February 2017. Small Grant projects should be completed within a 12-month period.
These Small Grants are designed for early career scientists and target research, conservation and educational projects on sharks, rays and skates. Projects should include at least two of these three components. This grant is designed for short (12- to 18-month) and small (grants average 5,000 USD) projects dedicated to early career scientists (within five years of a degree being awarded). It targets local projects conducted by local project leaders. Whether or not the project is part of a larger project, SOSF Small Grants are for specific and finite projects.
The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF) is committed to protecting our oceans by funding research, conservation and educational projects that focus on the major threats to the marine aquatic species and habitats. In line with the above strategy, most of the projects supported by the Foundation currently fall into one or more of three major programme areas:
- Research
- Conservation
- Education
Funding & Location
- Successful grant applications are likely to receive between US$1,000 and US$10,000,with an average of about US$5,000, from the Foundation.
- Project location Define the geographical location – including country, region, site, sea, ocean, etc –where project activities will take place. The project leader may be based elsewhere.
Eligibility Criteria
- Early career scientists (Having five years of a degree) Conservationists, Educators are eligible to apply.
- Projects should include at least two of these three components-research, conservation and educational projects on sharks, rays and skates.
- Local projects conducted by local project leaders are encouraged.
- Applicant must have the knowledge of English Language.
